You find some amazing things digging through Flickr, including some clever advertisements.
Today, here’s a look at how 3M put its money where its mouth is - and behind some of its security glass.
This particular photo was taken in Vancouver. I haven’t seen it. Have you?
Update: Stephen, a marketing guru from Engine Digital, credited the campaign to Rethink. Props to the creative team, and kudos to Stephen for filling us in!

How would you describe your bank?
Archaic? Assumptive? Arrogant, even? All of the above, and more? Well - not my bank!
Today, I had to make two calls. Expecting each to be a long, grueling process, I lay out all of my information in front of me and found myself a comfy blanket.
The first call. I dialed, navigated the voice-guided directory, and waited. To my surprise, I was greeted by a gentleman after only a few seconds. He was warm, and knew exactly what I was looking for. The call lasted two minutes. I smiled as I put down the receiver.
The second call. I dialed, found my way, and waited again. Once again, I was answered promptly by a friendly voice. Once again, I was in and out under two minutes with everything I needed.
In four minutes, my bank earned my loyalty, secured my business, and enlisted a free advocate. (Props to Carter and the other gentleman who helped me out!)
What companies do you know that could learn some customer service finesse? I’ve got one:
Impark.

I kid you not.
CTS, an Israeli pharmacy, has teamed up up with the creators of ICQ to bring us ‘icq toothpaste’ - a new way to “help P2P communication (person to person) while reducing bad breath”.
I didn’t realize chatting online required minty fresh breath.
Beyond the initial novelty rush, how much value does ICQ’s name bring to a toothpaste? Maybe a lot. Let’s look at me, for example.
I’m a geek at heart, so I have a tender spot for ICQ. (My number’s 1059929. What’s yours?) Nostalgia’s screaming at me, so if I saw it, I’d buy it; once I’d buy it, I’d try it; and if it’s good, I’d buy it again. Score - CTS just got trial.
So, here’s my question: how big is the geek market in Israel and how many of them have stanky breath?

Of late, there have been a lot of life changes. More friends, more coffee, more movies, and as a result, less Facebook.
I should be happy, since Facebook once commandeered my life, but the chatter on my wall has slowed, and admittedly, it’s depressing coming home to the same wall I left. But, I digress.
The headliner was a BCAMA ad for a social network marketing event. As a Facebook aficionado, it’s one of my favorites, and came to mind when I found myself with a poke-less profile. (A larger version can be found on my Flickr profile.)
Update:
Thanks for the pokes, guys!

Prestige is an important part of many communities. Everyone wants to be the boss. The king pin. The big kahuna. No matter what you call it - everyone is going for number one. Nippon ichi. Numero uno. Di yi. (You get my drift.)
Last week, Vancouver start-up, Strutta, showed a small crowd of tech followers how to strut their stuff (har har) at the super-secret alpha launch of Strutta.com.
Strutta is one part YouTube and one part Guinness World Records, served as a garnish over a smoldering pit of ass kicking, booty shaking, Guitar Hero, and LOLcats. In short, it’s a video site where you compete in a series of categories.

Marketers are going to fall all over themselves when they get their hands on this. Not only is it a meme accelerator, but videos sitting in popular categories are guaranteed exposure because of the way they’re rotated.
Time to pull out the web cam! I’m strutting music. How about you?
